How can I help my child at home?

You can help your child at home by supporting them with their homework, by listening to them read or by sharing a book with independent readers. A really good way to help children with their maths is by playing games or by practising mental maths. Helping with maths homework can sometimes be tricky because the strategies children are taught in school may differ from the ones parents learnt when they were at school. Below is our Calculations Policy which explains the steps the children are taught for each of the four operations (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication).
