Your child may have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument from Year 3 when tuition in some instruments, such as the cello, becomes available. At the beginning of the autumn term, a letter is sent to parents asking them to express an interest in music tuition for their child. The relevant music teachers will then meet with the child to assess whether they are ready to learn an instrument. If your child is considered to be ready, then lessons may begin. Some instruments, such as the clarinet, are not suitable for pupils to learn until they are a little older, usually in Year 4. If your child expresses an interest in learning to play an instrument later during the school year, you may register an interest with our School Business Manager.
Some families may be eligible for financial support and should ask our School Business Manager, for advice.
