Cultural Exchange
KS1 Cultural Exchange with Uganda
This Autumn term, our KS1 pupils completed an exciting and memorable project as part of our Cultural Exchange programme. For the first time, children in Classes 1, 2 and 3 took part in an international link, connecting with pupils at Karibu International School in Uganda.
The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about Uganda and discovering interesting facts about life and school there. They also wrote, designed and posted their very own postcards, proudly sharing information about their lives at Wells Primary School.
Our pupils showed great curiosity and thoughtfulness, asking some insightful questions of their Ugandan peers, including:
Does your school have a Forest School club?
Have you seen any mountain gorillas?
What do you eat for lunch?
What is your favourite subject?
Have you performed a Nativity show?
This project sparked wonderful discussions, developed the children’s understanding of the wider world, and helped them appreciate similarities and differences between schools in different countries. Most importantly, the children absolutely loved being part of this experience.
We are now eagerly awaiting a return postcard from our friends in Uganda and cannot wait to see what they share with us next!
KS2 Cultural Exchange with Uganda
In the Autumn term, we have continued our cultural exchange project with Karibu International School in Uganda. As part of the project, our Year 5 and 6 pupils have been learning about global communities. It has encouraged thoughtful discussions about culture, traditions and geography in Uganda and has further developed their curiosity and respect for other cultures. The pupils have worked enthusiastically to create fact files about England, considering what might be interesting and helpful for pupils of a similar age living in another part of the world.
Our pupil’s work has been shared with the children from Karibu International School. We are now eagerly awaiting a response from Uganda, where their pupils’ are preparing their own fact files to send back to us. We are looking forward to receiving the children's work as the project continues to develop.
