Cricket

Last year, before Covid, Wells Primary entered a mixed team from Year 5 and 6  into an indoor cricket tournament, The Moogsoft William Greaves trophey hosted by Capital Cricket. After coming first in Redbridge, we then came second in the East London round, securing a place in the final to be held at Lords Cricket ground. Sadly, this event could not go ahead due the the first lockdown.
Recently however, the event organisers contacted the finalists to take part in another tournament at Lords. Wells took the existing Year 5 team, who are now in Year 6, with some additional players last Friday to compete against three other schools from around London. We won our first two matches and, despite losing the third match, we have made it to the grand final on the 16th July!

Year 5 and 6 took part in a mixed 8 a-side tournament. We are proud to announce that we won the Redbridge games and went onto the East London games where we came second and we will now be playing at Lord's Cricket ground for the final of the Moogsoft William Greaves Trophy.  The competition began with 120 schools and we are now down to the final eight. The finals will be on the 27th of March and we wish the team the best of luck for a successful day.
